Alec had been in Forks for a few days now. He had wondered how Forks had changed in the hundred years that he had been there before. He thought that a boring small town would always be a small boring town. He had a long history that was paved with hardship. The Volturi had been after several members of the Cullen’s due to their gifts but they never succeeded in getting them. They also had given Cullen’s hard time over Renesmee about being an immortal child. Even though it came from an ally and supposed family coven of the Denali’s it did not matter they still were the ones that believed it. Alec wandered into the town and found a place to settle into. It was somewhat inadequate but that did not matter. He did not sleep at all anyways. All he needed was somewhere to stay over the night in. He started to think about the hybrid and what was so dang important about her anyways. So what if she was part human and part vampire. That would only mean that part of her is soft, loving, and caring. She would have a weakness that people could manipulate.
Alec spoke to himself” she is nothing special anyways. She is just a waste of space and nothing to care about.” He then heard a noise around the corner and he looked around the corner of the space he had occupied and it was just a bum trying to cover himself with a newspaper and Alec scoffed at that. He did not know why the society did not care about their humans enough to make sure they all had a place to go to. He then got up and started to walk along the sidewalk lost in thought.

Forks was beautiful in it’s quintessential atmosphere. Sure it was a wet and cold area to live in but she enjoyed it. Forks hadn’t changed since she had last lived there. After a hundred years she expected some things to change but some hadn’t. It’s beautiful and cloudy atmosphere was a perfect fit for her family who were all vampires, and for herself being the half vampire that she was.
It also meant she was close to Jacob and the pack. Of course with the history of her family being in the quiet town of Forks, some things had of course remained the same as anywhere they went. They were different and some people were facinated by it and some classified them as the weird ones. But only if they knew just how weird her family was, they probably would be too afraid to say it. She knew everything that her mother, father, and the rest of her family had been through and knew that Irina, their cousin from the Denali coven had been the one to bring the Volturi back into their lives because she had believed in something that wasn’t altogether true.
Irina had gone to the Volturi thinking that she was an immortal child, not one that grew and learned like any other child would. The difference betwen herself and an immortal child was that an immortal child was bitten not born into that way of life. The one thing about being half human and half vampire was that she was unique to the cosmos. There weren’t too many like her to begin with, and to make things easier she knew of no one that was actually in her highschool that was the exact same as she was, which was what made her special....unique compared to most.
She had been walking along, not really paying much attention, due to the fact she didn’t need to see in front of her in order to actually know what was going on, as her vampire side was able to hear things in front of her that she couldn’t even see to begin with, like the heartbeats. Turning a corner she had seen a bum sitting on the streets that had nearly ran into a man nearby. She didn’t flinch, after all it was not her place to get involved. But there was something about this other man that had caught her interest. He was different. She couldn’t hear a heartbeat, which meant he was a vampire.
She didn’t have to read thoughts to be able to tell the difference between an actual human and that of a vampire as vampires usually were able to blend in rather well, but even they stood out among other vampires. She walked forward toward the man, as she was not about to back down. She wasn’t going to say anything to him as she passed by as there was no reason to....but something stopped her from going anywhere, and yet something told her that she should address the man in front of her. She felt as if she knew him from somewhere but she couldn’t place where she would have known him from. And she certainly didn’t have a name to call him so she was going to have to be polite. “Excuse me...but have we met before? You look vaguely familiar.” The young woman finally was able to get out, though the tone sounded much more confident than a typical eighteen year old woman would have. But that was what had made her different than most women.

Alec had been lost in thought and did not pay attention to where he was going or who he had walked by. He had walked past several people who had been ladies, guys, and even kids. He must have looked like a kid because he was getting stopped and asked questions like where was he going and also where his parents are at. Alec scoffed at those mere questions and thought to himself” you do not have any idea who or what you are talking to. If I were you I would continue walking and never look back.”He had ran into a kid that looked like she was in her mid teens .She looked familiar but hey he had seen almost a million people in his life so it was not hard for him to be recognized. Alec looked down at her feet and started raising his face giving her a quick glance. He was trying to try and think if she looked familiar. Alec said” I do not know if we know each other. I have seen all kinds of people since I have existed on this earth.” He quieted down and waited for her to answer him. Alec smiled as if to say” Now what are you going to say to that. You say I look familiar but you do not know from where. “
Alec backed up giving her the personal space any person would ask for anyone to give them. Alec asked” Have you ever been to Italy? If not I do not know where you would know me from. I am not from here.”He placed his hands across his chest expressing his impatience.

Having been around for around a hundred years she had always known to be polite, as that was how her mother and father raised her to be. She dared not ask the man questions, though she was sure he was much older than he looked. Instincts told her that much. And they had never let her down before so she was sure that she could in fact trust them.
Though he looked at least in her oppinion to be about eleven or twelve, but she wasn’t about to dare ask him that kind of question especially. “I can’t explain it it’s just you look familiar as though I’ve seen you somewhere before.” She began to say but then hesitated when he said existed. ”Existed? Well just from that phrasing I would say you’re not like most humans....” She said quietly, as she knew he wasn’t quite human that she was able to think of. She couldn’t explain why it was that he seemed so familiar to her, but he just did. Even vampires like herself knew when to lay low and not ask so many questions. She was somewhat relieved when he backed up slightly. She also would be able to tell from his reaction whether or not he was an actual human or if he was a vampire..as well as what kind of vampire. From the carnivorous kind to the kind like her and her family the vegetarian...everything kind of had it's own place within the cycle of life.
She thought of her family—of Jacob. Of everything she had seen over the last centurary and wondered if he had been involved in all of that. If that was why she felt like she knew him. Even without his name, she was certain that she knew who he was. Having been given personal space, she felt like she could breathe again. When he asked if she had been to Italy, that was something familiar although she had never been there, just like Italian food was to her.
“No, I personally haven’t but it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go.” She answered politely as she talked to him. Having had no idea who he was—if she had well perhaps things would be different. But she could tell that he was quite impatient. She realized she was being rude so she took a breath before saying. “I suppose I must introduce myself. My name’s Renesmee. What’s yours?” She introduced herself, since that was the only polite thing for the young woman to do. She didn’t bother adding a last name because well she didn’t find that it was quite important enough to do so.

Alec had been raised to keep a low profile because causing a scene would alert to every human that they were not alone in the world and that would cause a panic. This girl that was in front of Alec seemed to have been keeping herself nice and calm. She must either know what he is and is not intimidated or there is something not right about her also. He could not judge his instincts right but if he used his power that would give him away and might cause uproar. He heard her speak and he answered with” How sure are your about your instincts about knowing me from some place? How can saying existed indicate that i am different from most people? Do people not say things like that?”Alec then started to think” Maybe she is friends with those Cullens. Or even she could be that hybrid that the fuse was all about. That would mean that either they moved away because they would not want to stir up trouble seeing as they do not age.”
Alec then brought up the topic of Italy and he heard what she said in response to that. He replied with”It is a whole different world . You should come and visit it someday” Alec began to think”If only she knew my ulterior motive was to bring a supposed gift to Master Aro. Maybe He would give me more praise then he has before.”Then the truth came out and he found out that the girl had been the girl that the whole mess was all about.” I am Alec. “

Although instincts weren’t always enough in this circumstance they seemed to be. Her unique life had brought her to this point in time. Staying calm in the middle of chaos was the one tactic that her aunt Alice had taught her. She wasn’t intimidated, though perhaps she ought to be. All she knew was that he was a vampire. That part she was able to tell with ease. She was sure Jacob would even bea ble to tell he was a vampire, just because of the whole scent thing. She also knew that any vampire with an ability should they use it in a crowded environment like this one would very easily expose themselves, which was precisely why she kept herself calm so that she didn’t do something she would regret.
“I’m usually never wrong about my instincts and where they lead me. Not around here they don’t....at least not the people I’ve met anyway.” She said politely as she watched him, waiting to see if her instincts were correct. Smiling softly when he returned the topic back to Italy. “I might, should there be a good enough reason to go. But for now my life is here....” She was trying to remain polite though it was getting harder and harder to do so when he seemed to be so suspicious. When he said his name was Alec, that was when it clicked. He was one of the Volturi. What was he doing in Forks? Was he after her family? She did not panic but she was worried more so for the others than for herself as she knew exactly what to expect. If he wanted her to be writhing in pain, he would have done so by now.
“Alec....nice to meet you as well." She genuinely smiled. "Now I know I’ve heard that name somewhere before...ah yes....I remember....” She said as she was keeping herself distanced from him but still close enough to watch his every move. If he had wanted to do something he would have already done so wouldn’t he? Was his biding his time so that he could get her alone to torture her? Like all the Volturi would? She knew that he was with the members of the Volturi only because her mother had mentioned them before...and she’d heard stories from her grandfather, Carlisle.

Alec realized that the girl in front of him was that same girl that he and his coven had come to Forks to see if she was a immortal child or not. She did not look that old and Alec had thought that the hybrids probably stopped aging just like vampires do.Alec wondered what would bring the Cullen's back to Forks? Was it the fact that it had been long enough that the citzens of Forks was long gone that they would not recognize them and the fact that they did not age one bit.Maybe it was something else that drew them back to Forks. There could have been a lot of maybes that could go through the minds of people. What Alec did know that he had a decision to make. Should he go back to Italy with news that the Cullen's are back in Forks? Should he keep quiet and not tell Master Aro ? Those were things that were fighting in his head.
Alec said"That is a good think t o not be wrong most of the time about your instincts. Are you sure they do not talk like t hat around here. I thought i heard them talk like that before. What things around here could ever make someone want to stay and live around here. The things I have seen about this place have not convinced me otherwise.I would think people would want to live in places like italy. It is nice to meet you as well Renesmee" As he said her name a evil smirk appeared on his face. He liked that name and he knew that it probably consisted of many names instead of one long name.Alec said"I am pretty sure you have heard my name before. i have been around for a long time." He was hoping he had not just slipped up and gave her a clue that he was a vampire of sorts. He was kinda sure she had already knew things about him. Things like what he was from and who he had been after.

No matter what the consequences it was something she was willing to do. Having been in conversation with the man, she had begun to realize that he was different. Just in the way he spoke, reminded her of her father who sometimes sounded as though he came from a different time altogether.
The man in front of her, this Alec, also seemed to be the same way. And since her father was a vampire, it made her think that maybe Alec was as well. Her instincts were quite on point as they had never let her down before and that was why she trusted them so fiercely. The reason she had been here at this very moment was because she was exploring Forks all over again, as though she did not have it completely memorized. This place hadn’t changed all that much. But then she watched as the other man began to speak and she listened intently.
“Yes, yes it is. I’m positive that they don’t. You might have but it’s rare to even hear such things....and usually when someone speaks in terms of existance...it means they’ve got something to hide.” That was of course the truth but she couldn’t very well come out and say that it was what gave him away as a vampire. “Well it’s not a bad place to live, if you don’t mind the kind of weather we have here. But that’s just my oppinion. I don’t mind the weather, but I’m only just passing through...I like to travel. One day I’ll make it to Italy but for now I must do what I came here to do.”
She smiled as she said it. Because the moment when he said her name and had that smirk on his face, it dawned on her she probably ought not to say too much. “Yes. Yes I...I have. Hence why I said you seemed familiar....” Alec...he was one of the Volturi members which only begged the question as to why he was here in the first place. He was one of the Volturi’s guards from what her mother had said, although she’d never expected she would meet him herself. Her mother had explained that he and his sister Jane were very dangerous. Especially when they were together.

Alec knew that just how he spoke that would give him away but he did not know how to talk any different. He was just talking like he had spoke for most of his century of being around. He realized just by talking to Renesmee he could see that she was given him the benefit of the doubt and that was what Alec liked in her. The only way that he liked about her was as a friendly way type because after all she was a Cullen and she was probably already taken and was off limits. Alec remembered that Renesmee was a hybrid and that meant that she ate human food and drunk blood. The thing that was different was that he drunk human blood and she drunk animal’s blood. He could not see what she saw in drinking blood from animals. Then again he knew that she might be thinking the same thing about him and drinking human’s blood. Alec asked” Then how should I be talking like? I have just been talking the same all my life. You would know about having something to hide don’t you? If you were anything like me you would have something to hide also. Why is this a good place to live in then?”
Alec put her in her place or so he thought. Alec continued to talk by saying”[/b] that is the thing there. It is the weather but I guess it is better than sparkling huh. Oh you are just passing through? I thought you Cullens lived here. What would cause you guys to move? Is it because of your age or do you have something else to hide?”[/b]He then saw her smile at him and it confused him. She was sending mixed signals but he knew he had to stick with his gut feelings and stay strong. Since you know who I am why have you not fled the scene and told your family about me here? I would think that would be something that they would want to know. Since I doubt that you keep secrets from each others.”[/b]

She had always been known to give people the benefit of the doubt and to be friendly towards anyone. Even someone who didn’t immediately deserve it. Being a halfbreed meant that she was able to eat and drink human food as well as drink blood. Although she couldn’t pinpoint which one was better. Of course she was also dealing with Jacob and the wolves so she had alot of experiance dealing with the weird parts that life held. Drinking animal blood was easier, not that she had ever tasted human blood but that was besides the point. “I don’t know you tell me. I have nothing to hide. I enjoy visiting this area. It’s quiet, and well the rainy weather is brilliant. Where I lived at before didn’t have the rain. It was dry most of the time and it wasn’t pleasant.” She said speaking like an eighteen year old from this time period would. She wasn’t about to get put in her place by anyone.
She listened as Alec told her that he knew about her and what she was. “I’m passing through I didn’t say I was with anyone. That’s your assumption. And you know what assumptions make you out to be, don’t you?” She didn’t respond to the sparkling comment or the one about her age just because there was no point in doing so, no matter whom she was discussing this with but now she knew who she was dealing with. Though she was sure that if she was around Alec than her aunt Alice by now would have already recieved a premonition or an image of this sitaution. Or that her father would have read her mind by now. “I’m not going to flee like someone who is afraid. I’m not going to run and hide just because things have changed. That’s not who I am and what I’m about. Now I know who you are, but I’m not afraid. I have no reason to be.” She explained as she looked at him. If he had wanted to hurt her he would have already done so and she would alert her family when the time came not before. There was nothing to fear but fear itself, or so she had always believed.

Alec had always been at his master's side doing things without asking why and never given his master reason to reprimand him. He did not know how it felt to be friendly to anyone. All he knew was how it felt to take people's senses away temporarily. It was a rare thing for Alec to be by hims3elf. He usually had his sister and either Demetri and Felix or just one by his side. He enjoyed being by himself. He could do things without being questioned or told to do otherwise. Then he had to go and find this half-breed and everything flew out of the window so to speak. She was the one that made him question if the life Alec had been living was the right one or just the one that he was made to live. Alec asked Renesmee" what would you have me speak. I come from a time that speaking that way is commonplace. You come from this time where the whole concept of speaking is different. Things are different as is night and day. What is stopping me for showing you my power and temporarily taking your senses away?"
Alec fixated his glare at Renesmee after he had spoken to her. Alec spoke again" so where was it dry at? Oh so your parents let you come back all by yourself without any supervision? Are you calling me an ass? That is not a wise thing to do.” He did not know whether to believe this girl or not. What was stopping her from telling the truth and admitting that her family was also back in Forks? Alec heard what she said about fleeing the scene and Alec smirked at her. Alec asked" so you are a brave one aren't you? I know what you can do with your power so I am not going to get close to you because I don't want any thoughts that aren't mine. I just think that is weird if I do say so myself. Alec said" I know that you and your family likes those despicable flea bitten mongrels or at least they stood by your family's side in the great standoff discussing if you was a immortal child in which I still think you are. I do not see what you see in them that you and them like each other."

The truth was she didn’t care what had made her stop to talk to the man. At first she didn’t even know that he was part of the Volturi. But now that she had, there was no reason to just flee simply because he could do something that most others could not. “It doesn’t matter. About which dilect you use, whether it’s one from a thousand years ago or a more current one.” She spoke directly as she wasn’t going to phrase things simply to please him or anyone else. That wasn’t who she was. “You could, show me your power that is, leave me without any senses at all. But something’s stopped you. Otherwise it would have already been done as that’s your defense mechanism. But you don’t see me as a threat, clearly otherwise it most likely would have been done. I highly doubt you ask yourself why you do the things that you do.” She explained as she looked at him. She didn’t care one way or the other what one of the Volturi was doing there after all anything was possible. She also knew that Alec was not the leader of the Volturi, that was Aro’s job. His, Caius and Marcus’.
Those three alone were trouble enough. “I don’t need their permission to travel. Not that it would have stopped me even if they said I couldn’t do it. And no, I’m not calling you an ass. If I were you’d know it. I wouldn’t beat around the bush I’d say it directly.” Wise or not she was going to do things her own way. Protecting her family became as natural as breathing had. “That’s how I was taught. To be strong. You can say what you want about what it is that I can do, or what is that I can’t...doesn’t matter. And I also don’t care what you think of me or anyone else for that matter.” She could feel her temper begin to rise as he called the shifters mongrels. It irritated her but she did her best not to let it show. “And since when does it matter what people see in eachother?”

Alec was trying his best to get under the skin of Renesmee. His approaches were not working. Alec listened to Renesmee speak and he smirked before saying” It sounded like it did because you were making a big deal out of it. So what reason did you come back here? I bet it was the one that imprinted on you. If you ask me that process is just wrong. It takes your free will away and sets up an unavoidable situation. You are just begging me to use my power aren’t you? So you can have a reason to hate me even more than the reason your family looks down on me and my coven. In a way I envy you.” He was of course telling the truth on some of what he said. He did envy her due to the way that she had a mother and father that loved her and cared for her. He did not have that chance to experience that type of things. The only one that ever cared for him like that was his sister and Master Aro. Master Aro was the only one of the three leaders that mattered to Alec.
Alec listened to Renesmee speak about the issue Alec brought up having to do her needing her parent’s permission to go places. Alec asked” so you are the rebellious type? That is what I like in you. You seem to be somewhat like me even if you want to deny it. I see that you are the direct type where you say what you feel or think. That is a good thing to have. Your parents have taught you well as Master Aro has taught me well the things I am.” Alec stepped back to let her have her personal space. Alec”[ b] there you can have your personal space. I would not want to be considered a bad guy trying to do bad things to you. Even though I have a few ideas in my mind I won’t share them. People can be deceiving and mischievous.”[/b]

It was not the first time someone had tried to get under her skin. She was used to it actually. Being a vampire, she got to go to school like most of her family. It was why after all this time that she needed space in which to breathe and to think on her own. “Right. Anyway, the reason I came is because I wanted to travel...to see things for myself. Without someone lurking over my shoulder every two minutes.” When Alec mentioned the bond—the one who imprinted on her...she hesitated. She didn’t want to talk about that. Not infront of someone who was connected to the Volturi. But she couldn’t. He was making it far too difficult to stay neutral under these circumstances. “Imprinting is a bit different, I’ll admit. But it’s a path that no one can necessarily avoid. It’s just the way things are. And no, I’m not begging you to use your gift...so to speak. Hate? I don’t hate anyone. Now I know that I should given who you are, and what you are—who you’re connected to, but that’s not enough of a reason to hate someone despite the fact you’d have me killed, if you had your way. I know that too. Envy? What is there to be envious about?” The half vampire stood her ground as she wasn’t about to back down from him. Why should she? He was perhaps involved with the Volturi but there was no reason to believe he was a threat because she hadn’t broken the rules.
“You could say that. Like you? How’s that? I have faith in what I do, even if it is not what others expect for me to do. Please, it takes a lot more than just being in my personal space to be considered a bad thing or a bad person. Few ideas? Do tell.” She wondered what he was up to. Decieving and mischevious were two of the qualities she could sense that he possessed.
“Decieving and being mischevious are too distinctly different things but just because someone has those qualities doesn’t ultimately make them bad. It’s what you do—what you say....how you act that defines whether or not you’re good or bad.”

As much as Alec had tried he could not get Renesmee mad at him. That was the usual way Alec had been viewed by other people. He was not used to any other way. That was why Alec was confused about Renesmee. Maybe she was the exception to the rule about the Cullens. Alec said” I like to travel also. I can understand the part about having people lurking over the shoulder inspecting what you do every two minutes. I think that is why I like being here alone and not with an escort. I do miss my sister though. I know that she would not be as nice to you as I am though. She is meaner to others than I am.” He did not know why he had just mentioned the part about his sister. Maybe it was his personality trying to be nicer to her than possible for him. Alec said” if you did come to Italy do not cause any trouble. I would hate for you to have to face Master Aro. He can see everything that you have ever done or thought in the past. There was an exception and that would be Bella Cullen. I do not believe that imprinting is something that can be unavoidable. You speak of things about you not hating people and then you assume things about me. Remember what you said what assuming makes you. That also goes for you also.”
Alec knew that he should not have thrown that back at her but he could not help it. She backpedalled and contradicted herself about assuming things. Alec said” I envy you for having parents that actually care for you to the point of trying to protect you from harm and dangers that lurks around every corner. Sure they can be overprotective but that just shows that they love you. You seem to want to be your own person but in my case if I would be that way I would be reprimanded and I hate it when master Aro does that. You are just testing me to see what how far you can push me to hurt you so you can run off and be daddy’s little girl and have them protect you again. I see that you are well versed in what makes you what or who you are. “He extends his hand as if to try and shake hands with Renesmee.
