- Edward when he is feeling moody
- his self control not being up to par
habits:
- Jasper still speaks with his Texan accents, though the intensity and deepness of it changes with his emotional state
- Jasper often attempts to manipulate the emotions of those around him so that everyone will just get along with each other. He does not like to see people at odds with each other, and tries to make their relationships take the path of least resistance.
- He is rarely away from Alice, and he is constantly attempting to show his devotion to her through the little things. While he might not always say how he feels, he is constantly showing it through touching her, wrapping himself around her, establishing eye contact, or letting her feel it through his powers.
secrets:
- while it is not a secret as to what his actual powers are, Jasper often hides how the emotions of others effect him, not letting on just how much he can feel the pain of others, and how much it brings his own emotions into unbalance.

history:
Jasper's life and upbringing was quite different than the rest of those within in the Olympic coven. He lived out in Texas before the rise of the Confederate States of America, and watched as the new nation attempted to blossom around him. He joined the Confederate Army of Texas at age 16, and by the time he was 19 years old was the youngest person to reach the rank of major in Texas, CSA.
It was shortly after he turned 19 that he crossed paths with Maria, Lucy, and Nettie, three vampires who had recently been pushed out of their territories, and had teamed up looking to reclaim it. Maria turned Jasper, after which he displayed the power of pathokinesis, the ability to feel and manipulate the emotions and moods of others. Maria soon realized that his military experience combined with this power made him perfect to act as commander for a newborn army. Soon after his turn, Maria called Lucy and Nettie out on their rebellion against her, and Jasper destroyed them, proving his loyalty to Maria.
Jasper attempting to develop a romantic relationship with Maria, but she could not get past the recent loss of her mate. Instead, he showed his devotion by leading her army to battle in the Southern vampire wars. Maria turned vampires, and let them operate within her army for one year. After that year, if they had proved unworthy, it was Jasper's duty to kill and dispose of them. While in the army, he made friends with a newborn named Peter, who he vouched for and convinced Maria to not kill.
Soon afterward, another newborn named Charlotte joined their ranks, and her and Peter formed a bond. Charlotte had been slated to die by Maria, but Jasper allowed the two of them to escape. Maria, who had been affectionate and warm towards Jasper until now, changed in her attitude towards him. Jasper could feel her fear of him, and could sense her intentions to destroy him, if only she knew how to overcome him. Jasper was reluctant to fight against her, though, seeing her as one of the only people he truly cared about, but his feral nature from his years in such a violent coven made it hard for him to not at least entertain the thought.
In the late 1930s, Peter returned, and convinced him to leave Maria for a peaceful life in the North. He joined Peter and Maria, but could still find no solace from the feelings of pain and fear that he induced in his victims. He soon fell into a minor depression, and left Charlotte and Peter, and tried a path where he killed and fed as little as possible. The thirst always grew to be too much, though, and he lived a life of instability.
In 1948, his life changed. Entering a diner in Philadelphia, he was approached by a lovely woman. Her calm nature and certainty about their meeting flooded over him, to the point where he wanted to be suspicious of her, but he couldn't, finally finding the solace and peace that he had been desperately searching for all of his war torn life. Struck nearly speechless, (nearly,) when she offered her hand to him, he took it without a thought, and walked to her. Alice and him would be inseparable from that point onwards.
She taught him how to sustain life off of animal blood, and about the future she saw for them with Carlisle Cullen and his coven. In 1950, Jasper and Alice found the coven and joined up with them. While the coven was open and accepting about his past, he would still struggle with his hunger, having been taught no control for the near century that he had been a vampire. He did, however, manage to attend high school several times, and earn several degrees in history and philosophy.
While the coven was living in Calgary, Maria tracked him down. The encounter with her would be what prompted the family to move to Forks, Washington. Jasper approached Maria, though, and asked her to keep her distance from him and his new family, cementing that he had no interest in returning to the bloody life that she offered.
It was during one of their high school jaunts in Forks, Washington that Edward became infatuated with a human girl. Jasper was annoyed when Edward saved Bella from a runaway vehicle, upset that he exposed their secret to her, though he did grow to accept it. Whenever Bella came to visit the family, however, Jasper always kept his distance, driven to the edges of wanting to hurt her from her scent, and his lack of proper control over his hunger.
Time passes, and after a run in with a group of Nomads (lead by none other than James), things turn on their head. With decisions being made so quickly and things twisting and turning at a moment's notice, things became dangerous when James becomes infatuated with Bella. While the three Nomads eventually leave, it was obvious that he would not stop until Bella was dead. To protect Charlie, Alice and Jasper take Bella to phoenix and go into hiding as the others try and diffuse her scent throughout Forks and the nearby mountains. A vision of a ballet studio and Bella's mother's home clue the three into James and his altered plan, though when Alice sees Bella at the studio she decided to keep the information to herself for fear of what might happen.
While hiding out in a hotel room, Jasper had his first real personal interaction with Bella, sensing the guilt that she was feeling at putting the family in harm's way. Though he tried to convince her to not feel guilty, she still did, proving to Jasper the nature of her good heart. At the airport, while waiting for Edward, Bella escapes Alice and Jasper's care, and the married couple worries for the safety of their friend. They find Bella, and are involved in the final fight against James. While Alice and Carlisle saved the dying Bella, and Edward sucked the venom from her wounds, Jasper and Emmett tore James' body yo shreds, killing him.
Bella returns home safely, as do the rest of the Cullens. Alice gets it in her head to throw Bella an 18th birthday party, and while she is reluctant at first, Jasper is able to use his powers on Bella to make her more amicable to the idea. During the party, though, Bella gets a paper cut while opening one of her gifts, and it throws Jasper, still struggling with his control, to fly into a blood frenzy. Emmett and Carlisle manage to hold Jasper back, while Edward pushed Bella out of the way. While she does not get bitten, she is injures herself even more on broken glass from Edward's shove, and she needs stitches. After the incident, Edward demands that the family moves away from Forks to protect Bella, and Jasper leaves with the rest of the family to Cornell.
Some time went by before Alice received a vision of Bella leaping off a cliff, though her rescue at the hands of Jacob Black was shrouded due to his werewolf nature. Borrowing Carlisle's car, she speeds off to Forks, convinced her best friend and who she hoped to be sister had committed suicide. Hearing only this side of the story, and not that Bella was saved, Edward leaves for Volterra, Italy, with plans to commit suicide at the hands of the Volturi. Jasper is wanted to stay in America while Alice and Bella leave for Italy, though he was not happy about not being around Alice to keep her safe.
In the meantime, he moved back to Forks with the rest of the coven, who now saw it safe to return. When the family is informed of the Volturi's decision that Bella should be turned, and the family is brought together for a vote. Jasper casted in his vote for a “yes” stating that it would be nice to be around Bella without feeling like he wanted to eat her all the time.
More time passes, and news of rather strange and almost supernatural deaths and disappearances start to pop up in local news coverage. Jasper almost immediately suspects that someone is building a newborn army, having personal experience with it from his early life, but dismisses it, thinking he is reading too much into it. Soon, though, he suspicions are proven correct, and they discover that Victoria is behind it, driven to want revenge against those that killed her mate, James. Jasper very early on recognizes the necessity for the treaty between the vampires and the wolves, and sets to work training them on how to fight against the newborn army.
It is during this time that Jasper told Bella about his past, as well as giving her an idea of what life would be like for her once she was turned.
When the fight occurs, Jasper insisted that Alice stay out of the conflict as much as possible, worried that his wife was going to get herself injured beyond repair. Concerned for her, and feeling the need to protect the other less experienced fighters in the battle, he tries to be everywhere at once, and manages to get himself bitten by several newborns.
Soon the day of the wedding came, and Jasper helped Alice make Edward and Bella's day special. A short time after that, the Cullen coven had another surprise in the form for Renesmee, and with her birth, came two very different kinds of newborns, as Bella, her body unable to support the life inside her as a human, was tuned and became a vampire. A short time after that, Alice had a vision of the Volturi descending on the Olympic coven and their allies, so Jasper and Alice when off in search of a miracle.
With barely any time spare, the pair returned with the proof another vampire born hybrid from South America, and the Volturi had no choice but to leave and bid their time once more.
Some time passed before Alice was struck by another life-changing vision. Seeing a small child lost without any one in the world was enough to send the vampiress to her knees. Visions of Seattle, flashes of pain and blood mixed with smiles and laughter and the most beautiful golden haired young woman Alice had ever seen. Grabbing Jasper by the hand, she blurred them into the woods before they found the lost little baby. Scooping her up into her arms, Alice beamed up at Jasper while rocking the little girl she knew he would never hurt or hunger after. 'We've got you, Alyssa. Mommy and Daddy have you and you'll never be lost again.' As Alice looked down at the child that would become their adoptive daughter, Jasper could not help but smiling, looking forward to the future...

The shadows of many kinds of Christmas' drifted in a very long memory. There was the holiday of early tradition, Americans trying to find their foothold against what had been a long standing English rule now lifted off the backs of the rebels. When he was young, Christmas (in the modern sense) was barely 100 years old, but his mother had latched onto it with the same vigor as every female of the times, with the excuses of decorating and feasting that could brighten up even the darkest of places, if only for one night, one moment. Years went by, decades dusted into centuries, but it was those memories that often drew Jasper back. The candles had changed to the modern holiday tree light, but for Jasper, it was still all about lights.
The family had insisted on having an excursion that involved everyone today, so some time after "dinner" time, the entire Cullen homestead and piles into vehicles and made their way to the shopping center of town. The argument had been that there was nothing that could make the holidays like going to the stores and desperately looking for that right present for someone.
Maybe he would come back some other time when there were not nearly as many people? Or he would find the little away stores, the antique parlous and mom-and-pops that needed the attention? Either way, his level of focus shot his nerves. He had a fair set of physic wards that he kept around him, but this was like assaulting a layer of Saran wrap with the power of a whole ocean. The shields would do their job, but there was only so much that they could handle. Already, Jasper could feel himself slipping, jumping from emotional vignette to vignette...
The joy of a child seeing Santa for the first time... The overworked business man who offered to work late on Christmas Eve, he would explain it to the kids... The mind crushing monotony that was the life of a season clerk, imagining the pain and death of every customer, no matter how jolly they appeared on the outside.....The overexcited anticipation of the average citizen of the holiday season fast approaching, some with panic, some with glee. And everyone was feel their emotions to a manic level...
There was a reason that Jasper rarely ran out into crowds. There was only so much that the dam of his personal shields could hold back, and while the dams would hold, it was with the desperation of the little Dutch boy with his finger in the dike. His eyes danced from one person to another, trying to find someone stable that he could latch onto, a port in the storm. He let out his own waves of calming and dampening, but it was drops in the ocean, and while it would work on the few, the many still screamed their way through their lives, not knowing the weapons that they wielded in their emotions.
When he could find no one to give him refuge, he closed his eyes, the darkness that he found there helping, but still casting him further down the rabbit hole. He could feel the necessity for alienation creeping into his thoughts, to shut himself down just to be away from it all, when at once the storm front parted. It was not the end of the hurricane, but rather a sanctuary against it, the beam of the lighthouse shining in the dark, calling him safely home. It started small, but swept through his mind and heart with growing intensity, and he did not need to open his eyes for him to know that an angel had found him amongst the rocks.
She didn't say anything to him at first, and he didn't say anything to her. They rarely found the need to speak, their silence birthed from more than just comfort, but from their knowledge of each other. Instead, the crowd simply parted for Alice. Drawn to her presence, the wave of love and affection that beamed from her, he opened his eyes, and allowed everyone else's' emotions to become background noise. She wrapped him up in her blanket of pure love for him, and he, in turned, twisted the world between them to make sure that she felt the love he held for her.
She came forward, and touched him, establishing that she was not some creature from the firmament, like he might have thought at first, but the flesh and blood of his Forever Love and Forever Wife. She smiled at him, and though he could not find the emotional resonance to smile back at her, he knew that she knew. He touched her back, the simple feel of her hand on his cheek, and his arm wrapped around the crook of her elbow. She said something, she had found him... And it was then that the smile cracked over the horizon. She looked at him, knowingly, his guiding star and foundation. The silence between them lingered, but before long Alice was talking...
It was not about the moment that had just passed between them, but about what color of a particular sweater she should be getting for one of the members of the family, conversation still a little lost to him, but she took her arm, and laid it in the bend of his, and guided him away from the wall. The more the spoke, even if it was about something as simple as her dilemma over a gift for a coven member, he could feel himself coming back into his own skin. They walked into the crowd, Jasper taking it in through the center that was his Mate. Slowly yet surely, Alice brought him back into the world...
His star... His angel... His beaming light.
